Writing Project

Edit and Proofread

After you have revised your draft, check it for mistakes.

  • 1 CHECK YOUR ADJECTIVES

When you write, use adjectives to describe things and ideas. Adjectives help readers make a picture in their mind of your writing.

EXAMPLEThe whooping crane is a large, white bird
  • 2 CHECK YOUR SPELLING

Circle each word that may not be spelled right. Look it up in the dictionary or ask for help. Fix the spelling if you need to.

  • 3. CHECK YOUR COMMAS

Whenever you have a list of more than two things in your writing, separate them with commas. This type of lists is called a series. Be sure you include commas in a series.

EXAMPLEWhooping cranes, California condors, and wood storks are all endangered.

What errors did Carter correct in his paper? What errors does he still need to correct?
