Looks in a Book

Gottesman began to collect photos of women in sports. She looked for photos that showed women athletes while they competed. After a few years, Gottesman put the photos together into a book. She published the book to show others what she saw—women are strong athletes.

Next time you see a photo of an athlete in a newspaper or magazine or on television or the Internet, think of Jane Gottesman. She worked to change the way that we look at women in sports. Did she succeed?
