CLASSIFY
Make a category chart about the people in All Across America. Follow these steps.
1 Draw a chart with two columns, like the one below. In column 1, write the categories of people from pages 2–3 of All Across America.
Category | Examples |
---|---|
explorers | |
pioneers | |
cowboys | |
inventors |
2 Read the book again. As you read, put the name of each person you read about in the correct category. (Some people may belong in more than one category.)
Category | Examples |
---|---|
explorers | Meriwether Lewis, William Clark, Sacagawea, York, John Wesley Powell, Sally Ride |
3 Compare your finished category chart with a classmate’s chart. Did you list the same people? Talk about the people you included in the chart.
