Biography
A biography tells about a person’s life. Biographies include facts and information to help the reader understand the person and why they are special. A short biography is called a biographical sketch.
Thomas Jefferson is an important man in U.S. history. He was born in 1743 in Virginia. He was a good student, and became a lawyer. In 1775, he became a very important person in America. He was a member of the Second Continental Congress. Then in 1776, Jefferson wrote the first draft of the Declaration of Independence. He served as vice president from 1797 until 1801. He became president in 1801, and was reelected in 1804. One of his biggest accomplishments was the Louisiana Purchase in 1803.This purchase of land from France made the United States twice as big. Thomas Jefferson died in 1826.
