Step 3: Build a Prototype
The third step in inventing is to build a prototype. Think of a prototype as a test model of an invention. Building a prototype not only makes an idea real, it also makes problems easier to spot.
A Cup Holder Takes Shape
You rummage around the house and find what you need. You collect some sturdy wire, wire cutters, pliers, and the bottom half of a plastic bottle. You cut the wire and bend it around the bottom of the plastic bottle. Then you twist the ends of the wire onto the handlebars.
