Listening/Speaking: Report on Resources for Immigrants
SOCIAL SCIENCE

SOCIAL SCIENCE

What issues do new immigrants face in your community? What resources can they use to solve those problems?

  • 1 Find Resources Research the answers to these questions. Use the Internet or a phone book to find documents or brochures about resources and organizations that help immigrants.

  • 2 Summarize Information Take notes on the information you find. Use your notes to write a summary of what you learned.

    • 1. Begin with a sentence that states the main idea of your summary.

    • 2. Write other sentences to tell more about the main idea.

  • 3 Present Your Information Present your information to the class. Do not simply read your summary, but use it as a guide. Make eye contact with your audience and speak in a loud, clear voice. If possible, bring in any information, such as brochures, posters, or sample documents from the organizations you researched, and share them with the class.
