Look at the photos, and listen to the emergency call. What information does the caller verify? What information does the operator clarify? Role-play the call.
911 Operator: 911 emergency. What are you reporting?
Caller: I think there’s someone outside my house. I’m all alone because my mom had to go to the store to get some medicine.
911 Operator: OK. Can you give me your name?
Caller: Rachel Garcia.
911 Operator: How do you spell your last name?
Caller: G-A-R-C-I-A. I called my mom’s cell phone, but she didn’t answer!
911 Operator: OK, Rachel. Now what is your address?
Caller: 123 East Street.
911 Operator: What is the cross street?
Caller: Oh … I just know we’re right off Main Street!
911 Operator: So you are at 123 East Street near Main Street, and your phone number is 555-8919, correct?
Caller: Yes, that’s right. Please help. I hear footsteps outside the front door!
