How to Express Opinions

  • 1. Tell what you think about something. Use words like I think, I believe, and In my opinion.

  • 2. Give reasons for your opinion or details to explain why you feel as you do about the subject.

  • 3. If you share an opinion with someone else, say, I agree with_____that_____. If you have a different opinion, say, I disagree with_____because_____.

I think surfing is the most popular sport with kids our age.

I disagree with you because lots of kids our age don’t live anywhere near the ocean!

Use Complete Sentences

When you express your opinions, you need to put your thoughts and ideas into complete sentences. This helps others better understand what you want them to know. Make sure each sentence has a subject and a predicate.
