Folk Tale: The Rooster and the Jewel

There is a rooster who is all alone. He is very hungry and weak.

He wanders around the countryside, looking everywhere for food. He can’t find anything to eat.

Then the rooster finds a shiny stone on the ground. He stares at it for a long time.

Finally, he says, “People would fight over this jewel. It would be valuable to them. But to me, the jewel is worthless because I cannot eat it. Shiny stones will not keep me alive.” And the starving rooster continues to look for food.
