Engage in Discussion

Look at the photo. What do you think is happening? What makes a person a hero? Does a person have to save lives to be a hero, or can a person be heroic in an everyday situation?

Use Compound Sentences

In your discussion, ask questions and use a variety of sentences. When possible, combine your ideas into compound sentences.

Simple Sentences:Heroes are brave. Heroes think about others’ safety first.
Compound Sentence:Heroes are brave, and they think about others’ safety first.
