Justify

There are at least two sides or approaches to every issue. Read the following statements. Choose one and justify your thoughts in a group.

First, choose a statement.

  • 1. There will always be conflict in the world.

  • 2. Peace is possible in our lifetime.

Then organize your thoughts in a T Chart like this one:

Now justify your opinions to a group. Listen to the positions of other group members.

Use Complex Sentences

When you justify your position, choose words like if or because to show a condition or logical reason for your idea. Such words will “hook” the condition or reason to your idea or opinion. The new complex sentence will explain the relationship.
