Making Your Voice Heard

The students in Burnsville, Minnesota, made their voices heard. They had an opinion, and then made sure it was an informed opinion. An informed opinion is based on facts that can be checked. It reflects careful thinking about all sides of an issue. There are millions of people in this country with their own points of view on issues. Expressing your own point of view can seem like a Herculean effort. Even if you yelled very loudly, would the government hear you and listen to your point of view?

Making your voice heard does not mean speaking loudly. It means getting others to listen to you and getting a majority of people to agree with what you’re saying.

How do you make your voice heard? How do you get the government and other people to hear you?
