Focus on Genre: Play

A play is a story written to be performed by actors for an audience. Most plays are divided into sections called acts. Acts are divided into scenes. Each scene is a change in time or place.

The lines, or words characters speak, are arranged in sequence and signaled by the character’s name in bold type.
