ACT 2, SCENE 3 In the forest. Actor dressed as DEER grazes peacefully in the foreground. All seems peaceful and quiet.

DEER. [quietly grazing on some leaves] Munch, chew, swallow. Munch, chew, swallow. Munch, chew, chew, chew.

[The Chenoo enters from stage left.]

CHENOO. [making grunting and grumbling sounds] Garrnh. Garg. Arrk. Grrr.

[The Chenoo then sees DEER, but DEER is looking in the other direction. The Chenoo creeps up on DEER, raises his big hands high in the air.]

CHENOO. [heads toward deer and lets out a loud howling sound] YAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRHHHHHH.

[This loud howl could be done by the actor or come from an amplified sound source. It should be very loud and piercing.]

DEER. Yeeep!

[DEER falls over dead. Other small animals, such as birds and squirrels, drop onto the stage as if falling out of the air and treetops. The Chenoo gathers up the birds and animals.]
