You can use the verbs can, could, may, or might with an action verb to express:
| A hurricane can cause a lot of damage. Several inches of rain might fall in just a few minutes. The wind may blow at high speeds. It might knock over trees. It could break windows. |

The present tense of a verb can also tell about an action that happens regularly or all the time. | My mom works for the local TV station. She is a weather forecaster. She reports the weather every night at 5 p.m. |
The present progressive form of a verb tells about an action as it is happening. It uses am, is, or are and a main verb. The main verb ends in -ing. | Right now, she is getting ready for the show. “I can’t believe it!” she says. “I am looking at a terrible storm!” The high winds are starting to blow. Trees are falling down. |
