Now that you have corrected your work, share it with others!
• E-mail it to a friend or family member.
• Make a home video of you reading it.
• Put it on a poster, add pictures, and display it in your classroom.
• Send it to your favorite magazine or publication.
Save examples of your writing. Date them and collect them in a portfolio. Look through your portfolio from time to time to see how you are doing as a writer.
1 Organize Put your writing in order by date. Make sections for works written for the same purpose or audience. Group your writing by form—stories, research reports, or poems.
2 Survey the Work Each time you add new work, ask yourself:
• How does this writing compare to other work I’ve done?
• Am I getting better in certain areas?
• Are there things that I didn’t do as well this time? Why?
3 Think About How You Write Think about the words you like to use, the kinds of sentences you write, and what you like to write about. All of those things together are your writing style.
