What’s the difference between need and want? Form a group and explore this topic. Think about different situations when you need or want something. Make a chart. Write the situations and your responses.
Now play a memory game on the topic. Write each response on two cards. Turn the cards face down and mix them up. Spread them on a table.
Take turns with a partner or in a group. Turn over one card. Read the response. Explain how it might be something you need or want. Then turn over another card. If the response is the same, keep the pair and go again. If it is different, place the cards face down and let another person take a turn. Remember:
You will often use nouns to express needs and wants. When you do, use singular nouns to talk about one thing you need or want. Use plural nouns to talk about more than one thing.
