How can people stay safe during an earthquake or another dangerous situation? What advice could you give them?
With a group, brainstorm dangerous situations that people might face. In a chart like this one, write what might happen in the situation. Then write what people should do to stay safe.
Then work with a partner. Take turns giving advice for different situations on the chart. Remember:
When you brainstorm what might happen, use the helping verbs can, could, may, or might. When you give advice, use the helping verb should.
EXAMPLES | In an earthquake, windows might break. The glass could hurt you. You should stay away from windows during an earthquake. |
