Guiding Question How do people deal with the forces of nature?
Think back on your reading of the unit selections. Discuss what you did to understand what you read.
Focus on Genre Narrative Writing
In this unit, you learned about narrative writing. Choose a narrative selection. Make a web. Write the name of the selection in the center. Around it, write clues that tell you why the selection is narrative. Use your web to explain the genre to a partner.
Reading Strategy Make Connections
In this unit, you learned to make connections to the reading. Explain to a partner how you will use this strategy in the future.
Throughout this unit, you have been thinking about natural forces. Choose one of these ways to explore the Guiding Question:
• Discuss With a group, discuss the Guiding Question. Talk about ways in which people deal with natural disasters.
• Dramatize With a group, dramatize a talk show that includes a host, a volcano expert, a hurricane expert, and an earthquake expert.
• Draw and Tell If a force of nature were a person, what would it look like to you? Would an earthquake look like a giant that stomps on the ground, for example? Draw a character that represents a force of nature. Share it with classmates and tell about it.
Which Unit Library book did you choose? Explain to a partner what it taught you about natural forces.
