Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich

When Frankenstein
prepared to dine
on ham-and-cheese on wheat,
he found, instead,
5 he had no bread
(or mustard, cheese, or meat).
What could he do?
He thought it through
until his brain was sore,
10 And thought he ought
to see what he could
borrow from next door.

Cultural Background

Frankenstein is not the name of the monster in the original story by Mary Shelley. The scientist who created the monster was Dr. Frankenstein. As this classic story changed over time, people began calling the monster Frankenstein.
