Secret Paths to Freedom

The Underground Railroad was secret. We do not know all of the paths that people traveled, but we do know that the Underground Railroad helped many slaves escape to freedom. Some journeys took a month. Others took a year or more. Some runaways were captured or died along the way. The Underground Railroad shows how far people will go for freedom.
