The Astronomer

BY AESOP

There was once a famous astronomer who attracted many visitors. Scientists came from far and wide to listen to him speak about the night sky.

One clear night, the astronomer took some visitors for a walk. He described each planet and named each constellation, but he did not watch where he was going.

Suddenly, the astronomer stumbled, fell forward, and landed face down in a muddy ditch. He slowly got up. His clothes were wet and his body was bruised.

The poor man limped back to the road. There, clear as day, was a rock in the path.

A visitor remarked, “You see great things in the sky, but you should see the small things at your feet, too.”

MORAL: As you think about the great things in life, don’t ignore the small things.
