Think about the chant on page 469. What would you do to improve the environment? What is Earth worth to you? How important is it to you?
Work in small groups. Discuss environmental problems and solutions. Record your ideas on a chart.
Focus on one problem. Then write a speech to persuade others to help solve the problem.
After you finish the speech, decide which group member will present it to the class.
When you try to persuade people, you need to use effective and interesting sentences. Using participles adds interest and convincing details to your sentences.
