Literary Analysis: Analyze Persuasive Techniques

Authors use certain techniques to get readers to think or act a certain way. Usually, they state their position or belief about a topic. They often use words like must and should to state a position.

Then authors give evidence to support their position. They may give facts, examples, statements from experts, or photographs to prove that something is true. When you read a persuasive essay, you have to analyze the evidence and decide if you agree with the author’s position.
