Writing Project

Edit and Proofread

After you have revised your draft, check it for mistakes. Follow these steps.

  • 1 CHECK YOUR POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES

When you write and use an adjective that tells who or what owns something, you are using a possessive adjective. Make sure you use the correct adjectives.

  • 2 CHECK YOUR SPELLING

Circle each word that may not be spelled right. Look it up in the dictionary or ask for help. Fix the spelling if you need to.

  • 3 CHECK FOR CAPITAL LETTERS AND COMMAS

Remember to capitalize proper nouns like people’s names, titles, days of the week, and months of the year.

Friendly letters need a lot of commas, too. Remember to put commas in the heading, the greeting, and the closing of your letter.
