Writing Project

Edit and Proofread

After you have revised your draft, check it for mistakes.

  • 1 CHECK YOUR VERBS

Use what you have learned in this unit. Remember, regular verbs add -ed to show that an action happened in the past.

EXAMPLEMom wanted to speak to the clerk.
  • An irregular verb has a special form to tell about the past. Study the verbs in the chart.

  • 2 CHECK YOUR SPELLING

Circle each word that may not be spelled right. Look it up in the dictionary or ask for help. Fix the spelling if you need to.

  • 3 CHECK FOR CAPITAL LETTERS

Names of people and days of the week are examples of proper nouns. When you use a proper noun, always capitalize it. Here are a few examples:

EXAMPLEWe went to the store on Tuesday.
I helped Mom and Sal Rojas, our neighbor.
  • What errors did Johanna correct in her paper? What errors does she still need to correct?

  • 4 MARK YOUR CHANGES
