Writing Project

Edit and Proofread

After you have revised your draft, check it for mistakes. Follow these steps.

  • 1 CHECK YOUR NOUNS AND VERBS

When you compare events in the past to current events, you need to make sure you use past and present tense verbs correctly.

In the 1940s, many people rode horses.
  • 2 SPELLING

Circle each word that may not be spelled right. Look it up in the dictionary or ask for help. Fix the spelling if you need to.

  • 3 CHECK YOUR COMMAS

Whenever you have a list of more than two things in your writing, separate them with commas. This type of list is called a series. Be sure you include commas in a series.
