Edit and Proofread

After you have revised your draft, it is time to check it for mistakes.

  • 1 CHECK END MARKS

    A command can end with a period or an exclamation mark.

  • 2 CHECK YOUR SPELLING

    Circle each word that may not be spelled right. Look it up in the dictionary or ask for help. Fix the spelling if you need to.

  • 3 CHECK MECHANICS

    Remember to use quotation marks to show when a character is speaking. The quotation marks belong only around the words the person says.

    What errors did Isabel correct in her story? What errors does she still need to correct?
