The next day, the athletes took deep breaths of air. They competed in different sports. They rode bikes, ran, threw a softball, and raced in wheelchairs. Cindy Collins, a 20-year-old from Garden City, won the wheelchair race.
“My next goal is to win at the World Games,” Cindy said. “I’m in training now. I move my wrists to make them strong. I also race around traffic cones. If I knock a cone over, I try again.”
“I met so many nice people while I was here,” Sam Wong, another winner, said. “We’re all good friends now!”
