Writing Project

Edit and Proofread

After you have revised your draft, it is time to check it for mistakes.

  • 1 CHECK YOUR PRONOUNS

Some pronouns are used only after verbs and words like to, for, or with. Remember to use pronouns correctly in your writing.

EXAMPLE Stand across from your partner. Pass the ball to her.

  • 2 CHECK YOUR SPELLING

Circle each word that may be misspelled. Look it up in the dictionary or ask for help. Fix the spelling if you need to.

  • 3 CHECK FOR CAPITAL LETTERS

Procedures usually include commands. Like any other sentence, commands begin with a capital letter. Remember to capitalize the first word in each sentence.

    EXAMPLEStand up straight.
Hold your arms out to your sides.
  • What errors did Hiro correct in his procedure? What errors does he still need to correct?

  • 4 MARK YOUR CHANGES

Now edit your paper. Use these marks to show your changes:
