Grapes and corn are very different crops. Grapes grow on woody vines. Because grapes grow on vines, grape farms are called vineyards. Some grape vines are hundreds of years old! In winter, when the grapes are not growing, the bare vines are still in the field. Corn is grown on farms. Corn grows on tall stalks. Every year the corn stalks are cut down. Farmers plant new corn every year. Grapes and corn are also harvested in different ways. Some grape growers use machines, but many grape growers still get help to pick grapes by hand. Most corn is harvested with big combines that pick and separate the crop. There are so many differences between grapes and corn that most farmers do not grow both grapes and corn on the same farm.
