Publish, Share, and Reflect

You have finished your diamante poem. Now you are ready to publish your work! When you publish your writing, you put it in final form to share with others.

• 1 FINISH AND DISPLAY

  Think about how your writing looks.

  • • Write your poem on a piece of piece of paper cut into a special shape.

  • • Cut a star shape out of card stock or heavy paper. Copy your poem on one side. On the other side, write your facts.

  • • Add a rubber band and hang the star.

  • • Decorate your star.

  • • Read poems and facts on other stars from your classmates.

• 2 READ ALOUD

  There are many ways you can share your writing. For this poem, try reading it aloud. As you read aloud, think about your purpose.

  • • When you read your poem, read slowly to emphasize each word. Give listeners time to make a picture in their mind. Focus on the rhythm of the words and alliteration.

  • • Use a different voice and pace for reading the facts.
