What Happens in a Story? A good story has a plot that makes you want to keep reading. A plot has many parts:
• The story often starts when a character has a conflict.
• During the rising action, events occur that make the conflict worse. These events are called the complications.
• The plot builds to the climax, or turning point in the story.
• The events that follow are the falling action.
• The resolution happens when the problem is solved.
