Folk Tale: The Ungrateful Tiger
Some people in a small village are in danger from tigers in the mountains nearby. The people dig a deep hole outside their village to trap the tigers. They cover the hole with a thin layer of leaves and branches …
That night, a tiger falls into the hole. He tries to get out, but he can’t.
In the morning, a man passes by. The tiger promises to be grateful if the man will help him get out. So the man puts a branch in the hole and helps the tiger climb out.
Once the tiger is out, he roars at the man, “Now I’m going to eat you!”
Just then, a clever rabbit comes along. He agrees to judge if it is fair for the tiger to eat the man.
The rabbit tricks the tiger back into the hole. Then the rabbit and the man walk away and leave the tiger to his fate.
