Use Forms of the Verb Be

Use a form of the verb be to tell what someone or something is like.

Forms of Be: am, is, are

The form of be you use depends on your subject. These subjects and verbs go together.

I + amI am a clever rabbit. I like to trick the fox.
he + isThe fox is not very smart. He asks the bird for help.
she + isShe is full of ideas! She gives the fox a good idea.
it + isIt is funny when the fox tricks the rabbit.
we + areThe bird tells the fox, “We are the only animals who can outsmart the rabbit.”
you + areThe fox tells the bird, “You are the smartest animal in the land!”
they + areThe fox and the bird are friends. They are happy to teach the rabbit a lesson.
