Thrones and crowns are symbols of emperors, kings, and queens. Flags are symbols of countries. What object would you choose to represent you? What words would you use to describe this symbol?
Make a list of adjectives that describe your symbol and put them in a chart.
Looks | Feels | Tastes | Sounds | Smells |
---|---|---|---|---|
red | smooth | sweet |
Describe your symbol to a partner. Can your partner guess your symbol? Tell your partner why you chose that symbol and why it represents you. Trade roles.
When you describe something, you use adjectives, so people can understand what it looks like, or visualize it. You can use adjectives to describe how something looks, feels, tastes, sounds, or smells.
The adjective often comes before the noun you are describing. If two adjectives both describe the noun, use a comma (,) to separate them.
EXAMPLES | I have smooth, red petals. My sweet, fragrant scent makes people smile. I am a beautiful sign of peace and love. What is my symbol? |
