Tell an Original Story

Everyone can be a storyteller. What story do you want to tell? Make up a tale that includes both people and animals and how they help one another.

List a few ideas for the characters, setting, and plot in a story chart like this one.

Work with a partner and take turns telling your stories using the information in your charts. Practice together several times until you can tell the tales easily. Then share your stories with the class.

Use Pronouns in the Subject and Predicate

When you tell your story, you don’t want to bore your listeners by repeating the same nouns over and over. Instead, use subject and object pronouns to keep your story interesting.

EXAMPLERob and Lou went skiing. They had a surprising adventure.
Pedro and Rosa are their friends. They invited them to go skiing, too.
EXAMPLELucas is hungry. He wants to get pizza.
Trey and Henry are his friends. He invites them to go, too.
