Every field of work or study uses words that are unique to that field. These kinds of words are called technical language. When you come across technical language, use context clues to help you figure out the meaning.
1. Look for clues to the meaning in the same paragraph.
2. Look for any photos or graphics that give more information.
3. If you still do not have enough information, check a dictionary.

1 Choose a Topic and Gather Evidence Choose a topic that people at your school can relate to. Find out everything about it. Make a list of reasons people should take action. Support those reasons with logical evidence.
2 Make Visual Aids Use a computer to find or create photographs, drawings, or diagrams that will help your listeners understand your views. Be sure that your visual aids are appropriate to the audience.
3 Deliver Your Speech Speak loudly, slowly, and clearly enough so your audience can understand you. Make eye contact and use gestures to keep your audience interested.
4 Ask for Feedback Ask your audience how persuasive you were. Do they think you presented logical evidence?
