How the World Was Named
Long, long ago, a wise ruler decided that everything in her land needed a name. So she went outside and called the tall, green things trees and the huge, brown shapes mountains. Then she invited others to share their ideas, too. “What fun!” said her husband, as he looked up at everything.
Saturday’s Game
I can’t stop thinking about last Saturday at the soccer stadium. My friends and family saw me play my first game. My team ran onto the field. Suddenly, the ball was at my feet. I remembered that Coach had taught us to make quick decisions. I passed the ball to my teammate Marco, who was near the goal. He kicked the ball and scored our first goal! I made a good decision.

Baseball and Bravery
Among America’s heroes is the baseball player Jackie Robinson. In 1947, he decided to join the Brooklyn Dodgers. It was a brave choice because Robinson was the first African American to play Major League Baseball. Some white fans yelled at him. Although he got angry, he did not yell back. Instead, he played baseball and became a popular player. Through his actions, he led the way for other African Americans to enter the Major Leagues.
Jackie Robinson was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962.
