Any ship in orbit around the Earth is actually falling slowly toward Earth. It never gets far enough away from Earth to escape Earth’s gravitational pull. The astronauts inside the ship are falling at the same speed, so they feel weightless. Their falling motion in orbit creates this effect. It is the same sensation you would have in a free-falling elevator ride.
Mass is the measure of matter.
Matter
Is anything you can touch.
The more matter there is The more mass there is.
That’s why matter matters so much.
Gravity is a force.
Its force
Pulls masses of matter together.
The bigger the mass
The stronger the pull.
And the force will continue forever.
Distance is a factor.
It affects gravitational rules.
The longer the distance
Between two masses
The weaker is gravity’s pull.
In the universe, gravity rules!
It holds the planets in place
As they orbit the stars
And everything, everything, everything
Continues to travel through space.
Gravity binds us to Earth,
And the Earth to the Sun’s galaxy.
As we walk beneath stars,
When we rocket to Mars,
Without gravity, where would we be?
