Look at the photo and listen to the discussion. Do you agree with Daniel?
Daniel: My history teacher says that wherever there are people, there will be conflicts.
Martina: Why can’t people get along?
Fred: That’s a good question, but I don’t have the answer. People don’t get along for a lot of reasons. There are disagreements between friends or neighbors, and there are disagreements between countries. Some are little problems, and some are huge issues.
Daniel: Sometimes people are afraid to speak up. Everyone should be willing to say what they think is right, wouldn’t you agree?
Fred: True, but I would not risk my life needlessly.
Martina: No, but you probably would be willing to take a risk if it was important to your life or a loved one’s life.
Daniel: Lots of people risk their lives defending their countries and helping people. I’m sure most of them don’t even think about the risks because it’s their job. Wouldn’t it be easier if people everywhere just got along?
Fred: It sure would!
