Chad Can Chop
Mom asks, “Chad, I know it is dull, but will you help make lunch?”
Chad says, “You bet I will! I can cut a big bunch of carrots. I can chop nuts for a batch of cookies. I can mix a jug of red punch. It is not dull. It will be fun!” Chad is such a good kid.
Mom tells Chad, “Fetch a bunch of carrots, a bag of chips, and the red punch mix.” Chad did.
“Can I eat a chip?” Chad asks. Mom nods. Chad munches. Munch, munch, munch!
Chad got a bit of chip on his chin.
“You can mix the punch, Chad,” says his mom. “Add a pinch of sugar to the punch. I will fix us a big batch of cookies. We can munch on them at lunch. Sit on the bench. We can chat.”
Chad sat. Mom got a cup of chips. Mom got a cup of nuts. Buzz—hot cookies! Chad sets the cookies up on the sill to chill.” Mom gets napkins. Chad digs in.
“Yum, yum, yum!” Chad says. The cookies are not rich, but Chad has his fill. Chad hugs his mom.
