Decodable Passage 16

Five Things a Fine Home Has

Most fine homes include many fine things. Some are things that people just like to have. Others are things they must have. Here are five things a home must include.

A fine home has a stove. A stove is used to make healthful food, on which a family likes to dine. A stove can be used to bake cupcakes, make an egg for lunch, and make a bedtime snack. People can take pride in the cakes they bake.

Next, a fine home has a clock. People use clocks to get the time. Some clocks chime to help them wake up. It is rude to be late for a plane, a game, or a date! A clock’s size is not important. Big clocks and little clocks can all do the same fine job! My small clock wakes me at nine!

What home lacks a sink and a tub? A fine home has a spot for people to take a bath. It also has a spot to scrub pots, pans, dishes, glasses, teeth, and hands!

Another thing a fine home includes is light. The light can shine in from a big window. It can also come from a bulb in a bedside lamp or a desk lamp. But in a storm, you might have to use a flashlight!

To finish, what is a home without a bed? A fine home can include many kinds of beds. The beds can be bunk beds, twin beds, wide beds, cribs, and cots. A bed is a fine spot to take a nap, read a book, and listen to a tune!
