Use Statements and Commands

A statement tells something. It begins with a capital letter and ends with a period.

EXAMPLE

We are hungry.

A command tells someone to do something. A command begins with a capital letter. It often ends with a period.

EXAMPLE

Try the Italian restaurant.

A strong command ends with an exclamation point.

EXAMPLE

Be careful !

To make a polite command, use the word please.

Please get in the taxi.
