Act Out a Market Scene

Give Commands

Imagine you are at a market. Work with a partner to act out a scene.

One of you plays the customer, or the person who is buying. The other plays the vendor, or the person who is selling. Include commands in your conversation.

First, decide who will be the customer and who will be the vendor. Then decide what kind of market you are going to. Is it a fruit or vegetable market? A fish market? A food stand? A clothing market?

Draw or list things you can find at the market. Add the prices.

Now role-play the scene. Use as many commands as you can. Remember:

Use Statements and Commands

When you want to tell something, make a statement. When you want somebody to do something, give a command.

EXAMPLES

Customer: I want a pumpkin. Please give me an orange one.

Vendor: Look at the white ones! They are very nice. They are $4.00 each.
