Elaborate

When you elaborate on something, you tell more about it. Work with a partner to elaborate about a photo of a river.

Find an interesting photo of a river. Look in magazines, books, and on the Internet. Think about the main idea you want to share about the photo. Then use an Idea Web to collect ideas about it.

Show your photo to a group. One partner tells about the photo. The other elaborates, or tells more about it. Keep going until you have no more to say about the photo. Remember:

Make Subjects and Verbs Agree

When you elaborate, be sure to use the correct forms of be, have, and do. Also be sure to say the subject before the verb.

EXAMPLESThe river has a bridge.
The trees are tall.
We do sports in all seasons at the river.
