Use Adjectives to Make Comparisons

To describe one thingtall
To compare two thingstaller
To compare three or more thingstallest
• Add -er to many adjectives to compare two things.
EXAMPLEFrankenstein is taller than Wolf Man.
• Add -est to many adjectives to compare three or more things.
EXAMPLEGodzilla is the tallest monster of all.
• Sometimes you need to make a spelling change before you add -er or -est. If the adjective ends in a consonant plus y, you usually change the y to i before you add -er or -est.
