Remember, a complete sentence has two parts: the subject and the predicate.
EXAMPLE | The artist paints interesting images. |
• A statement is a sentence that tells something. In a statement, the subject usually comes before the predicate.
EXAMPLE | The name of the artistis Paul Gauguin. |
• A simple sentence is a sentence with one subject and one predicate.
EXAMPLE | Many of Gauguin’s paintingshang in museums. |
Say each group of words. Add a subject or a predicate. Say the complete sentence. Then name the subject and the predicate in the sentence.
