Prewrite

When you prewrite, you gather ideas and choose your topic. You also make a plan for what you will write.

• 1 DECIDE WHAT TO CHANGE

  Make a chart with two columns. In one column, tell what happens in the actual story. Tell what could happen in a new ending in the other column.

  Here is Isabel’s chart. The second column shows the ideas for her new story ending.

• 3 ORGANIZE YOUR IDEAS

  You will write your new story ending in the order that events happen. Get your plan down on paper. Draw pictures on a storyboard to plan your ending. Write a sentence under each picture to tell what happens.
