Pronoun-Verb Contractions
Use an apostrophe to put a pronoun and the verb “to be” together to form a contraction.
Look at the underlined words in each sentence. Use a contraction in their place. Say the new sentence.
1. Mrs. Patch holds a falcon. It’s a big bird.

2. The children listen to Mrs. Patch. They are very interested.
3. One boy raises his hand. He is afraid of the bird.
4. “You are brave, Mrs. Patch. Does that falcon hurt people?”

6. “No, falcons are afraid of humans. We are so big.”
Replace the underlined words with pronouns. Then combine the pronoun and the word is or are. Write the new sentence.
